It’s summertime in Waikiki and who better to promote the chill vibes of Hawaii and Waikiki, than my good friend Ricky Hana! A former Maui tour guide and rising music artist, Ricky Hana left pro music over 20 years ago to raise his family. With that chapter in his life finished, he’s finally returned to his roots of singing and writing smooth hip, tropical, “trop rock” vibes.

A new album has hit the streets of Hawaii and around the world featuring a new style of music that most wouldn’t associate with Hawaii. 18 local bands have come together and put their blood sweat and tears into the first ever Hawaii Alternative Rock Compilation Album called ALTERNATIVE HI. Produced by Shawn Livingston Moseley and Brandon Apeles, ALTERNATIVE HI is sure to be a welcomed addition to anyone out there who enjoys not only underground alternative music, but also music originating from the massive talent that exist in Hawaii.

Alternative HI is now out on iTunes and at Island-wide retail stores including Target, Barnes and Noble, Walmart and more. The album is being released world-wide by Mountain Apple Co. This new compilation is an exciting move for the local music scene and one that the artist and producers alike hope will stir up interest in the amazing and talented pool of local artists. Ziggy Marley WILD and FREE Tour In HAWAII!

Thompson’s Productions, HPELive and Tantriq Entertainment present Ziggy Marley and Inner Circle, performing live for two one show in Hawaii. Five-time Grammy Award winner Ziggy Marley, currently on his “Wild and Free” world tour, and chart-topping reggae veterans Inner Circle will perform on Friday, March 23 in Kona, Big Island and Saturday, March 24 in Honolulu, Oahu. Five-time Grammy winner, humanitarian, singer, songwriter, producer and reggae icon Ziggy Marley has released twelve albums to much critical acclaim. The eldest son of international music legend Bob Marley, he first achieved worldwide success with his first solo album, ‘Dragonfly,’ followed up by his 2006 Grammy-winning album ‘Love is My Religion’ and his third solo album, ‘Family Time,’ which scored him a fifth Grammy Award for Best Children’s Album. On April 20, 2011, Ziggy released his first graphic novel, titled ‘MARIJUANAMAN,’ and continues down the creative path with his most recent album, the Grammy-nominated ‘Wild and Free,’ released on June 14, 2011. Rockin’ Hula Baby @ The Villa Honolulu

The Villa will be transformed into an afternoon dance party for families to “cut a rug” after their mid day naps. Come down and rock out to the hippest tunes in town!

Rockin’ Hula Baby will feature pop, rock, hip hop, reggae you name it spun by a live DJ. For the kids entertainment there will be hula hoops, books, games and of course lots of dancing! The event will also feature stimulating, educational and Hawaiian cultural activities children and families will enjoy, such as story book reading by First Years Hawaii’s puppet Nohea and activity sheets that encourage learning Hawaiian language. Healthy snacks will be provided, and for adult convenience there will be a diaper changing station and cocktails will be available for non driving parents.
