What does amazing music, Don Ho’s Island Grill and about 1000 lucky Oahu residents have in common? NESIAN FEST. 93.1 da Paina and Riddim House Entertainment presents Nesian Fest 2011 on Saturday May 14th at Don Ho’s Island Grill at the Aloha Tower Market Place, with our very own beloved, Nesian NINE, Trey Smoov (N9 cousins from Carson, CA), and Ray Leger, Local Culture, Kaipo Kapua, Rep UR Roots, and Twenty20.
Stili Malpeai, N9 band manager, reminisced about the six-city West Coast tour that N9 and Trey Smoov just finished. “It has been a blessing to have my cousin’s tour with N9 and it will be special to share the stage with them at Don Ho’s on the 14th,” shares Stili. Since the tour, the consensus of the over 9000 fans on Facebook, Nesian NINE is in very high demand with comments requesting a show in New Zealand, Australia, and numerous other places.
Since forming in June 2008, Nesian NINE has achieved a number of accomplishments over the past couple of years. The momentum from their debut album that was released in October 2009, “Press Play,” Nesian NINE has played with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Eryka Badu, KC and JoJo just to name a few. “Press Play” incorporates a little bit of the old school vibe blended with the right touch of the island feel. Nesian NINE is an island band that can play all types of music from reggae to R&B, from soul ballads to old school. They can do it all.

Nesian NINE
Nesian NINE is close-knit band of nine family members from Oahu, these band members exude talent and more talent. These are the amazing members of Nesian NINE starting with the front four, James “Ziggy” Maika, Lauititi “LT” Togafau, Jeremy “Kainoa” Salave’a, Billy Faoa, and the band members, Eddie “Eddie Licks” Lafaele (Guitar), Jr “StyXx” Lafaele (Drummer), Travis “Buja” Alcos (Keys), Rick Lepule (Keys), Amako “Mad Max” Malepeai (Bass).

Trey Smoov
The members of Trey Smoov, Mack Daddy, YC, and Vocalz were born and bred in Southern California where their journey to stardom began. These three motivated and spiritual young men posted a YouTube video, simply tagged “Samoans Singing,” which quickly got peoples attention and shattered the existing misconceptions that Samoans are only good at sports. Their angelic harmonies and pitch-perfect delivery proved them to be much more than just three singing Samoans. Trey Smoov’s musical talent is etched in their DNA, much like their boyish good looks.
On Friday May 13th from 5:00-8:00pm, Nesian NINE and Trey Smoov are taking over 93.1 da Paina. It will be 3 hours hosted by these two bands. Nesian NINE will perform a rendition of “You Baby” along with the friendly banter between cousins. No band has ever taken over a radio show here in Hawaii before.
