A tour around Lana’i City

Centrally located in the pleasant highlands of the island of Lana’i, Lana’i City is one very charming town. With a population of around 3,000, it’s really no city at all. It’s one of those unique places where everyone knows everyone and everyone is so friendly. We like to think of it as the Mayberry of Hawaii.

Dole Park defines the heart of Lana’i City. It’s the gathering place for picnics, the farmers market and island festivals.

Aloha Friday Photo: Kipuka Puaulu Trail

Mahalo to Marjorie Elliott for sharing this lovely Hawaii trail photo with us for Aloha Friday Photos. Marjorie took this photo on the Kipuka Puaulu Trail which leads through a bird and wildlife refuge on the Big Island. This loop trail is only 1.2-miles long with very little elevation change.

As you might be able to tell from Margorie’s photo, the trail leads through a beautiful forest. It’s quite peaceful.

When the folks from USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards reached out to us to submit a list of the top 20 Hawaii attractions, we had a very difficult time narrowing down the fantastic options across all the Hawaiian Islands. With input from other Hawaii travel experts, USA Today 10 Best received over 60 submissions that they narrowed down to just 20.
